For more complex work, think as widely as possible about all the different capabilities you want to have in your end product. This might include automation, integration with other Office programmes or simply the numerous criteria that all factor in your project's scope.

And then, together, we can make it happen.
Lots of puzzles just need the little bit of extra knowledge that can save you struggling.
Two minute-timesavers are some of the most useful tricks I know: if you use them 15, 20, 50 times a day, you start to redeem some significant time that you can use doing the things you want to do.
Harness the power of the Excel tools you need to make your data work for you.
Let's show Excel who's boss!
My Introduction to Excel session is a two-hour primer covering typical tools that will help you get to grips with the most common uses and possibilities of spreadsheets.
Various other sessions are available, covering more specific areas of the application. The documents below give some snapshots of the topics you can expect to cover - though questions and tangents are welcome! Introduction to Macros is just going through a re-draft, so will appear here shortly,

I keep the sessions to about 2 hours to allow the learning to sink in. Other trainers may try and cram in six- or seven-hour courses, but I aim to help you retain and gain confidence with the skills covered, not squash everything into a single day.

Sessions were written with the use of Excel 2010 in mind, but adaptations can be made for those running later versions of Excel.
From two-minute shortcuts to projects that evolve over months, we can produce the answers you need.

Having a full time job, I tend to do most of my consultancy and training work in evenings and on Saturdays, or the odd free afternoon.

I've found that training is best delivered face to face in one-to-one or small group settings, and I can do that in coffee shops, homes or anywhere else. As long as you have a laptop that runs Excel, we don't even need Wi-Fi!

Developing other projects is usually a process that evolves over time, and so I do most of this remotely, staying in touch by e-mail and phone to provide updates on progress.
